A type of device in the material handling business which could be used to raise and move loads from one place to another is referred to as a forklift. Each forklift component has a particular function. Different components could be used to transport the load either horizontally or vertically.
Mast
The forklift mast refers to all the components which lift and lower the load. There are different kinds of masts for raising loads to different heights: triplex, quad, simplex and duplex.
Power Supply
There are four various ways you can power a forklift: gas, electric, propane and diesel. The battery is located inside the cab underneath the seat. The propane tank is located on the rear of the truck. The fuel tank on gas and diesel forklifts is under the back of the truck.
Cab
Located in the middle of the truck is the forklift cab. This is where the operator sits and accesses all the controls and informational gauges. The gas pedal, steering wheel, lifting controls, tilting controls and brake are all situated inside the cab.
Frame
Carrying all the largest forklift components is the truck frame. This consists of the counterweights located at the rear that prevents the truck from tipping over when loaded. The frame consists of the overhead guard which protects the operator. The undercarriage holds the wheels, driveshaft and axles.
