Aisle Types
Lift trucks are classified due to the types of aisles they have been designed to work in. Wide Aisle and Narrow Aisle lift trucks are designed to turn in the aisle, whereas Very Narrow Aisle trucks really don't turn in the aisle. There are some aisle widths to take into consideration with different models.
Very Narrow Aisle or VNA trucks work in less than 6 feet places and often use certain guidance systems such as optical, rail or wire systems in order to travel in the aisles. Several various models of VNA trucks comprise Turret Trucks, Swing Masts and Order Selectors. These are common kinds in tight retail areas and in several storage and warehouse situations.
Narrow Aisle or NA trucks are able to operate in aisles which are 8 feet to 10 feet. Usually these are stand-up models like Reach Trucks. They are usually used in storage facilities and warehouses.
The wide aisle forklift is designed to work within aisles more than 8 feet to 10 feet.
Stand-Up Ergonomics
The "Ergomat" padding on stand-up models offer padding on a sloped floorboard. These features are made to reduce operator exhaustion by absorbing vibration. The operator compartment is very large and has an 8" low step height which helps lessen overall body fatigue by easing frequent entry and exit. The unit consists of polyurethane steer tires to absorb shocks and vibration caused by uneven floor in order to enable smooth traveling. For additional comfort, there is a cushioned armrest and floor mat as well as a backrest designed to help keep drivers comfortable and hence more productive while limiting fatigue.
