Basic Fuel Types of Forklifts
Forklifts are powered lift trucks that are used in various kinds of industries to move heavy materials and items. Forklifts are tough and dependable equipment which are essential tools in warehouse and construction settings. Forklift units vary depending on the kind of work setting and the kind of fuel which is utilized to power the lift truck.

Electricity
Electric powered lift trucks are best for indoor settings, or in locations with limited ventilation because they produce no exhaust fumes. They are designed with industrial strength batteries. Because the electric forklift batteries require charging, the worksite would require a charging station. The batteries are tough and can be re-charged up to 1,500 times before they need to be replaced. The charging station must be situated in a ventilated area and include an emergency eyewash station and an acid spill kit.

Propane
Liquid propane powered forklifts are commonly used in modern industrial operations because propane has some advantages over electric and diesel. Propane models are cleaner to utilize compared to diesel-powered units. There is no down time needed to recharge an industrial battery, and the cost for propane is less compared to the cost of electricity. A lift truck propane tank could be refueled quickly and easily by changing out the empty tank with a full tank. Typically an off-site supplier refills the empty tank, making refueling really efficient and safe.

Diesel and Gasoline
Diesel and gasoline forklifts are the equipment of choice for outdoor applications and rough terrain. They are normally found on construction sites and lumber yards. Their disadvantages comprise relatively high maintenance requirements, odorous exhaust and fairly high fuel costs. Their advantages include a longer lifespan compared to other units and dependability in tough conditions. Diesel and gasoline units must be refueled at a supply station on site which meets health and safety policies.
