Classifications of Scissor Lifts & Aerial Lift Platforms
Scissor lifts are made of a series of crisscrossed steel arms, linked up to create an X pattern. When the crisscrossed arms are extended, the platform is vertically raised. There are support railings along the edges of the lifting mechanism to be able to help secure the workers' tools and keep them safe.
Scissor lifts provide a low profile which is ideal for hard dirt surfaces, concrete and pavement. These machinery use either a combustion engine or electric motor to be able to move the lift and power the lifting mechanism. The operator would have to move the lift itself if she or he needs to travel horizontally, since the lift apparatus only operates the lift vertically.
Rough Terrain Scissor Lift
Rough terrain scissor lifts utilize the identical lifting technology as a typical scissor lift. The key difference is that the rough terrain units feature a different base which is specifically made for uneven surfaces. These units also provide oversized all terrain tires and higher ground clearance. The rough terrain scissor lifts use 4-wheel drive so as to navigate through difficult and muddy terrain without problems.
Telescopic Boom Lift
Telescopic booms are designed to be elevated both diagonally and vertically. This particular unit has a small work platform that houses controls to be able to operate the boom. The controls function with a combustion engine so as to power the hydraulics which power the boom and move the lift. The telescopic boom lift is an independent lift unit and has off-road capable tires.
Articulating Boom Lift
There are two telescopic booms on the articulating boom lift. These are connected with a moving elbow mechanism. This lifting machinery has a bucket or a small work platform that is outfitted with hand controls in order to control the boom. These are stand-alone lifts which are powered by a combustion engine. Articulating boom lifts are available with either off-road or hard surface tires. These lifts are designed in order to reach over top of and on top of buildings.
Aerial Mast Lift
The aerial mast lift uses a telescopic mast so as to lift a work platform vertically into the air. Normally, these lifts are pneumatic powered or electrically powered and are self-propelled machines. These equipment offer a great solution for working in high racks within narrow warehouse aisles. It is really essential to note that aerial mast lifts are limited to vertical movement and are not recommended for off-road use.
