Designed to both lower and lift loaded pallets from storage spaces that are high is a narrow aisle forklift. This particular type is recommended for work places with narrow spaces between aisles, like for instance retail establishments or warehouses. The forklift has small, solid rubber tires that make maneuvering easy.

Generally, the operator of this particular kind of forklift stands up within a small cockpit. The stand-up design allows the narrow aisle forklift to be as narrow ans short as possible. A stand-up cockpit forklift normally has three tires: one in the rear, and two in the front. This configuration allows for easy and fast maneuvering. There are several models of these forklifts that come with a sit-down cockpit. The lift attachment is capable of pivoting to the sides, permitting the lift to be operated without the operator having to reposition the entire equipment. The sit-down version usually has four wheels.

Numerous narrow aisle forklifts are powered with an electric engine. Machines that are electrically powered do not make exhaust fumes and are not noisy, making them the suitable alternative for closed places like retail spaces. Some lifts come with a diesel engine or a gas engine. Then again, the diesel model is not suggested for indoor application because it could be noisy and produce exhaust.
