Later the company gained recognition globally as the first maker of steam engines for its agricultural application. By 1912, Case had become established in the construction machinery business. The rapidly began to make road building equipment like steam rollers and graders. Case grew their construction machine business through various acquisitions, beginning with the American Tractor Corporation in the year 1957. Case had expanded their business by the middle part of the 1990s to become the leading producer of light-sized to medium-sized construction machinery.
Case merged with the corporation New Holland in 1999 and together they became CNH Global. This business became responsible for marketing several of the globe's leading brands of construction and agricultural equipment.
